The line 'You're hiding from me now, There's something in the way that you're talking' feels like he is acknowledging the other person's pain, knowing that they aren't entirely present (both in general and in the relationship) as they are in a dark place. General CommentI see this (beautiful) song to be about someone who is openly committing their love to someone who is entirely distanced - not as they don't reciprocate this person's feelings, but perhaps as they are going through a lot of hurt for some reason. But anyway, he worships her and falls at her feet every time she calls to him, and pride isn't even an issue. I think the song's about him being in love with someone who may or may not return his feelings, but either way I get the feeling they're not together. They're certainly my favourite lines anyway. I think that these are the central lines to this song- the point at which the other images all come together and he establishes his point. 'Go, I'll be waiting when you call'- she has other relationships, she's away from him, but he's going to stick around anyway, just on the offchance.Īnd I'm more than willing to offer myself There's also the obvious sexual connotations, of course. 'I feel like I'm moving inside her' could mean that he knows her well enough to see things from her perpective, to live her life alongside her with the insight he has. He feels that he knows this person more than anyone else does or ever will, and he's lying in the dark thinking about her. General CommentTo me it's a song about being willing to hang around and wait for the person you love to come to love you, even though there's a chance they never will.
